Making the experience even more difficult!
I know the game is a lot quicker as one ascends the National League System, but I often think Level 7s are thrust straight into the harshest of environments, working alone with all the problems we get with CARs and disorganised games
My first job out of Uni was in sales. Any sale involved the Buyer, the Salesman and a Sales Manager (the decision maker). The Salesman and the Manager will collaborate to gain an advantage over the Buyer (who is working alone) in the process
This has got me thinking about the dynamics of refereeing alone. My analogy of selling, highlights the importance of having a 3rd person to call upon when needed. Trouble is, the captains are often as much use as 'an inflatable dartboard'. I've had some joy with beckoning in the least feral mammalian, simply because it helps keep the growling pack at a distance. That player might also have a taming influence on the dismissed.
Just a theory as I haven't had enough chance to test drive it yet
