The Ref Stop

world cup appointments

The Ref Stop
Match 2: Egypt : Uruguay - Kuipers (NED)
Match 3: Portugal : Spain - Rocchi (ITA)
Match 4: Morocco : Iran - Cakir (TUR)

They're using some big guns on day 2. Also, it's probably not a coincidence that the two big matches for Friday are using refs with a lot of VAR experience. FIFA probably wants a good start to the event with VAR.

Rocchi on the big one is fantastic that’s got yellows all over it, Costa Ramos v Ronaldo & Pepe

I really don't rate Gassama, so it will be interesting to hear about how it goes.

I went to Gambia in November, I travelled to the National Stadium and just walked in an open gate. Inside there was a low level game on with a full team of officials. My overall view of watching the chap on view was good but I’d wonder about the poor level of games he was reffing! And, the states of the pitches because must were just dust bowls!

i take it nobody know the officials for tomorrow

Monday

Sweden : Korea - AGUILAR (SLV)
Belgium : Panama - SIKAZWE (ZAM)
Tunisia : England - ROLDAN (COL)

Tuesday

Russia - Egypt: Caceras (PAR)
Poland - Senegal: Shukralla (BHR)
Colombia - Japan: Skomina (SLV)

If there's anything that's surprised me it's how small the VAR pool is. They have their small group and they're gonna stick with it.

Its quite incredible how three of the most experienced VAR nations (USA, ITA, and NED) all missed the world cup and pretty much left those refs with an open slate.
