As an ex smoker myself I cant understand why a ref would smoke around the pitch? Id maybe have one on the way and then not smoke again until I had left the ground. I certainly would never have lit up ay half time.

Very different time to now and something I'd not often expect to see from a referee these days. Long lapsed smoker myself. Players and referees sometimes having a smoke together at half time / full time, usually in the lower divisions I hasten to add - was good craic a lot of the time. Good old Dunmurry League!
