The Ref Stop

West Ham vs arsenal

SM

The avuncular one
Great decision from the officials in duty to rule alex songs goal offside - 2 players clearly interfering with goal keepers line of sight (one of them jumped over the ball!). Great team work also with the AR keeping the flag down and walking to the corner flag to discuss what was seen before making a decision.

Now the idiots. Fat sam. Again opening your mouth and letting stupid fall out. Again. Made worse by the fact the decision sounds like it had been explained to you before you go on camera. And as for the motd "experts" - for shame. They may as well invite two transient barely audible mumbling drunks in off street to give an opinion.

The problem was that the two that the ball went through weren't offside iirc on MOTD last night so if given for them it's incorrect. Carroll who was stood in front of the keeper was, but I think it should have been given anyway as I hate Arsenal lol.

All 3 were offside......but MOTD had a little graphic which showed that only Carroll was in line of sight for the keeper.....therefore claimed that if it was given against Carroll it was a good decision, but if it was given against one of the others it was wrong.

But at least now, knowing your hatred of Arsenal, it becomes clear why you would ignore an act of VC committed against one of their players!

Ive had the "jumping over the ball" offside talk before too.

Player: "But ref, I didnt touch it"
Me: "But you interfered with play"
Player: "You cant interfere with play if I didnt play the ball"
Nonsense... Nonsense... Blah... Blah... Blah.

As padfoot said, all 3 were in offside position. Carroll was the closest to inside the other 2 were well off. It will teach them not to make more of an effort to move out with the defence!

Sorry my post had an autocorrect error. Should have read - Carroll was the closest to not being offside.

He was the only one of the 3 not interfering.

The player who jumped over the ball didn't prevent the goalkeeper from playing the ball, therefore he's not offside. Carroll probably did interfere with an opponent, the goalkeeper hardly moved.

Does Mike Halsey come under the 'idiot' category, too, monkey. He seems to agree with Sam

....and why do some members on here feel the need to use insulting words to describe players, managers, pundits...does it make them feel better or big, i wonder.....often seems to be the same one's who freak out if someone has a go at a 'fellow' referee

So seeing as my original post has been deleted, I'll ask the question again.

If Carroll isn't there is it still ruled out seeing as the keeper therefore has an unhindered view of the attacker kicking the ball?

Who is Mike Halsey? ;)

If you are talking about self publicist Mark "im better than everyone else so am quite happy to kill the respect I gained by slagging off some colleagues but not my friends on tv for some coins before BT jettisoned me for being a bit pointless and courting controversy in an obvious manner" Halsey then I haven't seen his comments. Do you have a link?

And fat sam is an idiot. He proves it every time he opens his mouth on tv after he loses.

Mark, mike, shmark, schmike

I believe he commented on talksport this morning tho I only heard a reference to it on the evening show

Ah. I am sure it will appear in the daily rags tomorrow at some point.

I have probably been too harsh on MH above. He was a very good referee. His book was entertaining and inspirational for the most part. It is his tv and media stuff which tends to irk me. Don't know if that came across above :D

he makes his opinions well known on twitter as well @SM . Will always defend his opinion as well, as Dan once found out

What happened?
It was in relation to Fabianski's red card.
Halsey had his opinion, I disagreed with it. Like normal, he doesn't like people disagreeing so proceeded to shoot me down, publicly, and ridicule anything I said. When The FA rejected the appeal, thus agreeing with the red card, I responded saying that clearly The FA agreed with me. He again shot me down publicly, and then blocked me. Mature as ever...!

Haha thanks Matty! I can't see that conversation any longer because he blocked me. Fortunately, I run a couple of Twitter accounts so I can see them through that.
He's so arrogant, it's untrue!
