UNBELIEVABLE ... What would you of done here?

Hi all,

A few weeks back I was asked if I could do a Semi-final under 10's match ..
now that means 7-aside football with goals that have to be put together and taken down after each game...

15 minutes in and it was 0-0, when team A had a shot that was OBVIOUSLY going into bottom corner of the goal, as the goal keeper was in 'dreamy land' HOWEVER ...... a defender from team B pulled the goal deliberately so the ball went wide :O :O :O

Now I gave a drop ball and took the offender over to the manager allowing him to make a substitution but not to allow him to play any more in the game! team A then went and lost 3-4 :/
I got a lot of stick saying it should of been a penalty... But it wasn't really a ' direct ' offence so I didn't award a penalty!

What would you of done as I've had so many different answers I don't know if I made the correct decision now?? cheers :)

Did the defender DOGSO? by the way u describe it YES. The ball was going in if the defender had not moved the goal.
RC and pen for me

yes it was 100 % going in, but the defender deliberately yanked the 7aside goal so the shot went wide, but you have to remember that it was under 10's so to show a red seems harsh, so I told the manager to have him taken off. I then did a drop ball on the edge of the area in-line to goal post.

the worst thing is that the team that had the goal denied because of this ended up losing 3-4 ! ! !

Shouldn't the goals have been properly secured in the first place? They must have been pretty flimsy if an under 10 can move them!

it was them extremely cheap plastic goals you have to put up, and I did check the goals however the wasn't to best standard I've seen and the player used some force as well

I'm struggling to get to the conclusion of red card for dogso. Purely because of this

denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity
by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within
his own penalty area)
• denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving
towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a
penalty kick

see that is why I didn't award a penalty because, Yes I suppose he did deny a obvious goal scoring opportunity however it wasn't a direct free-kick offence.

Cannot be a penalty as it's not a direct free kick offence as such. I'd go for DOGSO and IDFK (see last point of page 37 of LotG).

Dropped ball is also easy to sell as technically the game should be stopped immediately should the goal posts become displaced. However, due to the nature of the goalposts not being anchored to the ground as such the games shouldn't have went ahead or at least used the properly weighted 7 a side goals.

Definitely the fault of the competition organisers.

It was a 'technical' offence, so I agree that it wasn't a penalty. However, I would be tempted to give a IDFK as opposed to a Drop Ball. Therefor, I would give a RC. If I was to give a Drop Ball, than I couldn't give a RC for DOGSO and the Law doesn't allow for this (See Ross's post).
