That's what I would call proactive refereeing, deal with protest/disagreement as an when you need to before it becomes dissent. Like many others, I'm very much of the opinion that dissent isn't something that can be managed, protest/disagreement is.
Padfoot being referred to as last week's ref has made my day, that made me chuckle!
