Player collapsed during a local game this morning. CPR was given, paramedics attended, two shots on the paddles to settle him down, taken to hospital and he's now sitting up in bed chatting. Heart attack, aged ****ing 20.

The Ref Stop
Never nice to hear these stories, maybe a blessing that he had company and people willing to help and get proper medical aid.

@Brian Hamilton - You OK? It is deeply worrying when this happens.

Shows the importance of the Emergency First Aid course, so help can be given until primary responder arrives.

Great that someone was there able to help and had the equipment to do so....over here councils are stocking AEDs in referee's rooms and most clubs have someone trained in using them. Hope the wee lad makes a full recovery.

Not my game. I came by the info as a League Official. Player still recovering.
Can you make sure the referee is OK, as this can really shake the referee up. I had two serious leg injuries in two weekends when I was referring.
