The Ref Stop

Sunday League Documentary

The Ref Stop
Good video - has lots of different perspectives (players, coaches, refs ...)

I see a mainly black kit probably once a month - sat and sun - I can only assume that leagues know about it and are happy for teams to wear it !

It's because referees don't report the kits to the league and/or refuse to play the game unless the kit is changed.......

If the referee did their job properly these kits would soon stop appearing.

Absolutely. No alternative kit? No game. Had a team wear a black kit with me 3 times this season and I reported it each time. The second time they said "bugger, this ref again". They got in even more trouble. The third time I turned up to ref them, 16 players and 4 coaches in unison just went "oh f*ck" :)

I report it on my form - but - I also play the game if no alternatives are available ... I have worn a bib / coat before too

Totally agree with HertsFinest's example - Leagues seemingly are happy to accept it and / or clubs are happy to pay the fine each time they are reported

I will never ever referee in a bib........ridiculous suggestion.

Would rather wear a coloured shirt.....or simply not play the game if they have no alternative kit.

This is obviously a Sunday League morning match. You turn up, no coloured kit. (I don't have one).

Team's kit is black. You're kit is black. You honestly wouldn't wear a bib? You'd send potentially 30 blokes home at 10:30am on a Sunday morning without playing a game they've been looking forward to all week?

At the risk of being an old fuddy duddy spoil sport, can we not have this debate again. Seems like only a few months back we had this very debate around refs in black/teams wearing black/bibs.

Other discussion around the documentary - yes. Arguing about Refs in bibs/teams in black - nope.

Fair enough SM although surely the 3rd option is for the ref to carry 15 bibs in their bag for the next time it happens

So, never mind that it's directly relevant to the topic, you don't want a discussion about it?

And the point of a discussion forum is.....?

The point is, Padfoot, that this discussion over wearing a bin (or not) has been had many times so there's really no point in doing it all again

Bloody hell.
13:40 poor challenge, poor refereeing.
What was he waiting for? Sheer luck stopped this from becoming 2 red cards.
17:00 Anotherone of those super refs that thinks cos they've issued no yellows they're great man managers

The referee from 17:43 is a bloody disgrace and the game can do without his type.
Basically says abuse is part of the game and so many refs leave because they "thought it was about refereeing a football match not being abused for 90 mins"
This makes my blood boil...
Refs like him are the reason it still exists!!!
"You've got to able to take the rough with the smooth".... er no... no I really don't
YOU HAVE THE TOOLS TO DEAL WITH ABUSE MAN!!!
I bet he'd never sent a card in in his life
