Spurs v Utd - Reversing the Throw in

Man Utd player is about to take throw in. Referee stops him and awards the TI to spurs.
The throw in HAD NOT been taken yet.
It looked to me that the referee wasn't happy with where the throw in was ABOUT to be taken from and awarded it to Spurs.
I am not 100% that this is what was actually happening (what with it not being legal in law I'm sure) but the incident left me quite confused. Anyone else see it?

Yes I did. If he gave it the other way for the player trying to gain a few yards, then he's correct; but if it's for time wasting then all he can do is issue a yellow card and not change the direction of the throw. The big thing is, as you mention, the throw had not been taken.

Although it wasn't clear what it was for, a couple of minutes later there was a more or less identical situation where Jon Moss tells him to move back as the player tries to move forward so I think that's what happened in the first instance.

Isn't this the one where Ashley Young attempted to take it and made a complete balls up of it and dropped it on the floor?

Think he gave it as he mistook the dropped ball for a foul throw.

My reading of the situation was that Jon Moss clearly warned him that he was in the wrong place and needed to retreat .... but Rafael then ignored him and threw it anyway so he reversed the throw in ... good to see )) . But to be fair it did all happen very quickly.
