The Ref Stop
I e-mailed Mark Ives about this one.

He told me that 'the written reasons for Danny Rose are currently being produced by the Commission Chairman and will then be published.'

It was never a penalty, never a sending off, and Daws was never offside. The officials had a howler.

Nothing to do with that??;):p

You can see why it's been given. Probably from the referee's angle 99 out of a 100 would have given it, it's only in slow-mo you can see he gets ball before man and, actually, it looks like Dzeko's going down before there's any contact (his back leg goes first, which doesn't even get touched).

All in all - one o' them that a video ref with a bit of time wouldn't have given but pretty much every human on the planet would have. It happens. It was definitely a risky tackle.

When I saw it first time, I thought it was the trailing leg that caught Dzeko's heel. That was the foul - not the front leg that touched the ball.

Careless tackle for me, however many times I see a replay.
