Slow news day...

What refereeing situations have never happened to you?

I don't mean like a streaker on the pitch or really bizarre ones. I mean the ones that you would expect to have come across at some point in your time refereeing that you haven't.

For me...

I've never given a penalty from on the line.
I've never given a goal on a tight goal line decision either in the middle or as the AR.
I've never sent someone off in a game that ended up going to penalties and had to ask the other team to reduce by 1 to even it out.

Slightly related to your last one I’ve never had to give anyone a “second” yellow (with them having received one during the game already) during a penalty shootout. Come to think of it I don’t think I’ve had to give any yellows during a penalty shootout.
Also, it’s not something that’s never happened, but I’ve only had two games finish 0-0, having been involved in 300+ games now.

I was around 200 games in for my first (two coaches would disagree as to whether I should have done so before though) so it's coming, don't worry!

I've still not had a RC for SFP or VC, though 100% missed one of each this year based on a review of the VEO footage. 😭🤦‍♀️
 
I have had all of the above, multiple times. Though lost count of number of my games it is over 1K.

Struggling to think of anything that should have happen and hasn't, so I'd go reverse. I was promoted from 4O to centre in a cup final (the biggest game I had done at the time). Centre ref ankle injury around 15 minute mark.

Ok, got one. Never had to abandon a game due to one team being reduce to less than 7 😆

I also ended up in the middle of the biggest game I'd done at the time because of the referee getting injured.

The ref (L4) was being observed on a step 5 game when I was a level 6 and he went down injured after 8 minutes.
That game didn't go too well 😆
 
Been appointed to referee a cup final. And I started in 1999.

Stepped in once as referee pulled out *on the walk out to the pitch*. Arrogant t*****r turned up injured and tried to blag it anyway before quitting at the last possible moment.
 
Out of date now, but I never had a second sin-bin for the same player and the admin fun that brings.

Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever had dissent as one half of an S7.

My OA match on Sunday I got through without a single free-kick for a foul (save for one chalked-off offside ‘goal’)… a personal first.

Hopefully won’t jinx this as currently en route to a match this evening.

I actually had a decent game. It was the pinnacle game of the season for the association and a big deal for me.
 
That's one for me. Never had to takeover from injured ref having been senior assistant probably well in excess of 100 games.
 
I find it harder because straight away players know you're not meant to be doing what you're doing so they will try harder to challenge you.

Ref has gone down in 2 games I've been involved with. One when I was senior AR and one when I was junior.
 
I'm only 2 years in but I have never had a DOGSO or SFP red. Or, come to think of it, a 2YC for the same player (had 2 where I "managed" instead - thankfully it went well then but I probably wouldn't use that option again). I've also never had a 0-0. A bizarre one that has happened though was one game where literally the only time I blew my whistle was kick off (including after the sole goal), half time & full time. That was a very boring game!
 
In nearly 400 matches as an AR or 4th, I don't think I've ever had a referee go off injured! (That's the kiss of death for someone for the start of next season... 💀)

Never had a match abandoned due to discipline (had a few for weather/floodlight failure) - closest I've been was not long after sin bins were rolled out. Away team turn up with a bare 11 (manager quit the night before)... one off for each side for VC on 35' (10v10), away player goes off injured on 37' (10v9), away left back loudly disputes the award of a corner and goes to the naughty step on 55' (10v8), before play even restarts another away player very publicly argues about the sin bin, and gets to go join him (10v7). While those two are off, the away captain gets very vocal about a free kick given against one of his teammates... I decide that I don't fancy being known as the first ref to have to abandon a Step 5 game for too many sin bins, and 'manage' it with a talking to 😅
 
Never had a mass con.

Never had a drop ball direct goal or a free kick own goal (laws of the game test would make you think you'd have one every other week).

Never had a sub refuse to go off the pitch.

Never had to give two cautions to the same player at the same time (e.g. played advantage).

Never had more than 11 players on the pitch from each side. (Had a team field 10 by mistake once, told them during the pre-whistle count).

Never had a penalty retake (long may it continue).

Be interested to hear about the game(s) you had to abandon due to less than 7 players for a team. The closest I've come to was a team starting with eight and I had to reluctantly send one of them off for DOG handball.
