With courses expected in the new few months! Looking for what you guys take on match days so I can annoy the Mrs even more and buy stuff!

I am aware won't need as much as you potentially when I start but show me the KIT!!!

Also... best place to buy everything!

@Ross is selling load sof stuff cheap in a thread on here. Suggest you take a look there.

Basic equipment:
Kit = shorts socks shirt footwear
Whistle
2 watches
Yellow and red card
Something to write on
Something to write with
2 flags
Coin

Boots, buy for comfort and preferably cheaper (especially if you're running lines, they'll not last particularly long, imo).

Always consider a nicer pair for middles and cheaper pair for lines, Sports Direct are a good shout.

Thank you guys! Now really stupid question… studs I take it?

And just for fun… what colour whistle (not sure but seen many refs get passionate about the colour

If your just starting out I wouldn’t worry about anything fancy. 2 cheap watches from Argos will do the trick. As for a coloured whistle, it’s entirely up to you.

I do love an excuse to get the kits out.
not pictured is apple watch with refsix

Oh... so 2 watch is 1 for back up,... not one on each arm 🤣
Yeh 1 on each arm, both timing the game.
I use a GPS sport wTch on one wrist and a referee timer on the other. If one goes dead I at least know how much time is left to play.

Footwear needs vary with field of play conditions, e. g. on hard grounds trainers are fine . . . aim for black/predominantly black trainers/boots.

I heard this for the first time the other day:
A very experienced observer that runs a referee academy and organises referees for international tournaments (work it out;)), pointed out on a live stream the other day that he doesn't like yellow or red whistles because, from a distance, fans/players/coaches can think they are seeing a card in certain circumstances. It was also pointed out that bright yellow ref shirts also mask cards of the same colour and present poorly at a distance.

I think, though trifling at grassroots, and possible one person's bugbear, it's enough for me to not consider a coloured whistle (yellow Dolfin is the obvious one) . TBH the Valken only comes in black tho;)
