Again people are get all worked up about things that they don't need to.

If you need to be in the penalty area to see something, i.e. following an attack, or corner or whatever, then do it. If you don't need to be in there then don't go in.

Stop trying to dream up nightmare scenarios and trying to find fault with the new laws, and just referee what is Infront of you on the day.

Pretty sure that entering the PA is one of the criteria for the positioning and movement section in match assessments in Wales. Good to practice getting in there, I remember being told it is a common thing for newbie referees to avoid it like the plague though.
 
Going into the penalty area is sometimes useful, but if you do so it should be wide and nowhere near the actual play.

In terms of the OP, I support Bristol City's approach, it needs to be the referees that are stopping play.
