Again, down to individual leagues. On the league that I'm heavily involved in 10 of the 11 committee members are referees or ex-referees, and the other one is the wife of an ex-referee.

Disciplinary hearings have always been a bit of a lottery. I can remember my first one in London where the player and club told a complete pack of lies, and as they got the other team to back them up the charge was thrown out. It is what it is is, the referee is just a witness and not in any way accused, if you were a witness for a crown court case and the accused was acquitted would you feel aggrieved?

I'll assume you now concede that CFAs CAN set caps. Post 8 seems very conclusive that they cannot. Most people apologise when they are wrong and misinformed.

The answer to your question, even though it's nothing to do with what i have said, is yes. If i was a witness for the prosecution and the accused got off i would be aggrieved. I don't really understand any relevance to my points though.

I was highlighting how refs are now on trial - even though 99% of the time they are not the accused.

Out of interest do you agree with my 9,12 and 3 o'clock idea?

I'm not aware of any regulation that allow a CFA to interfere in what referee fees a league pay. It came up in London years ago where the Turkish league were offering way more than other leagues, it was known as danger money as so many referees had quit due to the levels of violence. The other leagues complained to London FA but they said there were no grounds for them to get involved.

Referees are 100% not on trial. If they were and the case went against them there would be some kind of sanction, which is not the case for player / club appeal hearings. Any person on trial, regardless of whether in football or any other situation, faces some kind of sanction if they "lose" the trial.
