I understand it's not really possible to observe many levels above that at which you Refereed
That's just the way the game is I suppose

That model infers that today's refereeing can never be better that that of yesteryear
It is now, there are people that got no higher than L5 observing on the National League, maybe even the EFL. The new observer pathway removed the requirement for having to have officiated at the level you refereed at.

That's the pathway I was on but then Covid came, I started teaching (which takes up a lot of time) and I drifted back to being just a fan. Got my season ticket back at Leeds after 3 years on the waiting list. Still not quite managed the outraged fan indignation at refereeing decision yet though :)
