I still can't see why you think that he might be able to get away with it and I'm not quite sure what you mean by a 'public act' - do you mean an act of apology? If so, then going back to my previous argument, if we wouldn't let a player off for kicking someone just because they apologise for it next day, why would we let a referee off? We can't hold referees to a lesser standard of behaviour than players, if anything it should be a higher standard....he might get away with it, coupled with some public act.
