Would be nice to find out when the referees for those supply league games might get appointed @Brian Hamilton (Not that it's anything do with you I know...)
Elliot, I have been advised by a reliable source that Contrib appointments will be published tomorrow meaning that Supply Leagues can then work with the L4s not already appointed. The knock on effect of the delay has been difficult, but at the moment I am only one referee short of a full house for the month of August. Not bad for a newbie.

The Ref Stop
Oh I was wondering if we'd actually go into August before getting them. I assume there's a pretty severe shortage of officials about causing the delay.

Yeah I think that's a pretty decent start! Hope it carries on!

@Brian Hamilton thanks for the advice mate,

I've only got 10 fixtures a week to fill, so far out of the 38 referees I have, i have received closed dates for less than half of them, and only have 5 available (so far) for the first games in September!!

This could be a long season!!!

A few seasons ago I built Pitchside Refs (www.pitchsiderefs.co.uk) for our local football leagues in Grimsby which basically monitors open and closed dates of officials.

It's just gone live with Cornwall and Devon FA this month.

Features include:
  • Add unlimited referees
  • Individual Logins for each referee
  • Ability to close full or partial days
  • Add a fixture to a referees calendar
  • Tag referees for easy searching or allocating a fixture
  • Download report of closed dates for referees
  • Alerts if a referee closes a date after you give them a game
I can provide demo accounts if you'd like to have a look around. Just PM me.

Also starting the new season as a first year Referee Appointments Secretary. I staff the Assistants for the Premier Divisions (Supply) and 4 lower divisions. I'm managing around 100 referees and need to appoint 46 when there's a full programme.

I then use conditional formatting within excel and a few formulas to ensure those giving me most availability receive most appointments. Issued fixtures yesterday and already had 7 sets of back words :)

Oh hello by the way
Brian, would you be keen to share your work? Im looking at taking over as referees appointment officer and before I build my own excel spreadsheet would be interested to see how yours worked if you still have it all these years on?
