The Ref Stop
Unless I am missing something obvious they just both go to head it and clash heads, not really seeing anything wrong there.

Don’t even see careless there, let alone reckless, let alone SFP. Stop game for head injuries, drop ball to light blue.

One player got the ball, and the other didn’t. I don’t see that as different from a tackle scenario. IMO, the late player committed a careless foul when his head missed the ball and hit an opponent. (I wouldn’t be horrified if a R got to reckless on that, but I wouldn’t. And I don’t see any way to get all the way to red.)

In my opinion one player hit a ball, another hit head of that player.

Look for his head, and look for a ball - he was metres from it...

I'm erring on the side of this tbh, probably a difficult sell as a foul, but I can see one in there. Why should it be any different to 2 players going to kick the ball and one getting there later than the other and kicking the opposition, I'm sure referees wouldn't have hesitation in giving that as a foul.

I'm gonna say it, what does football expect...?

I completely understand that take, even though I take a very view.

I know this over-simplifies it and each incident is its own dynamic event but one player wins every genuine (ie both trying to win the ball) aerial battle and it would follow that when there’s a clash of heads then it’s a foul by the player who missed the ball.

Not punishing this with a red is a giant step to being defeted by the dark arts.

That aside, intentional or not, I see this as endangering the safety of an opponent. The motion of the head was twards another opponent's head and the clash could/should have been anticipated (if in fact it was not deliberate). The right to play the ball does not nullify your responsibility for safety.
