I'm leaning that way myself, but the thing is players do consent to a certain level of physicality and include moments where players might lose their heads and have some handbags (within reason), whereas spectators do not. There shouldn't be any risk of physical altercations with the spectators at all, and I don't think 'he's asking for it' with his behaviour is a valid reason either just to head off that camp.

I think the players initial reaction when trying to get the ball warrant a red card.

The referee didn't really have any option of slowing the game down, as soon as the blue player did that he had to walk.
