The Ref Stop

Really?

The Ref Stop
Definitely over-officious and unnecessary, but is that even correct in law? The removal of the shirt is, I thought, only in reference to celebrating a goal?

I agree Dan.

The only reference to removing a shirt is that during a celebration or revealing a slogan, plus a mention in the basic equipment.

This ticks none of these boxes so no offence has occurred.

No Beezer, the ref made a point of sending him off before the left the FOP specifically so the sub couldn't come on.

Couldn't really be sure from the footage , its seems rather petty though ,Don't you agree ?

The only thing I can imagine happened is that the player was dawdling before the footage starts, whips off his shirt to waste more time. There we hear whistles to which the player starts running. Perhaps we missed him delaying the restart? In which case he would have deserved the second caution. Guess work. :)

As Supermonkey says I can only assume we've missed part of this in so much as he was taking ages to go off. Video editing can make anything seem real, but I would be amazed if he received a second yellow for removing his shirt as he left the field of play.

Shock as black player in Russia (or other, similarly racist, eastern European country) is treated terribly by officialdom! I'm not inferring that that ref's a racist, too, but... if I recall correctly black players have been cautioned or sent off for reacting to racist abuse and/or disciplined by the Russian FA.

I ma really glad that i saw this thread as it has given me food for thought with regards to taking of shirt as until i saw this thread it has never clicked in my head cautioning for taking of a shirt is connected to goal celebration. You learn something new every day :)

Yes. Russia is also not "eastern Europe" and I can assure you there are only a couple of leagues (that are actually former Yugoslavia, which is also not eastern Europe) where it happens
