How the hell are they allowed to get away with this?
They are flexing their muscles in the belief that they are untouchable. The Spanish federation should be proving them wrong in that respect and taking very serious action, but I won't hold my breath.

It's simple. When the football authority is toothless, the referees should take this into their own hand.
I know this is at a very small scale, when I was a committee member in our RA, our policy was when the referees welfare or refereeing integrity was of concern, the team was not getting any further appointments until a 'satisfactory' outcome was reached. Sometimes we had to compromise but a clear message was sent.
Real Madrid did it last time. Spanish FA did FA. The message is clear.
