I know this sounds random but say i was refereeing and a player came up behind me and purposely tripped me up or pushed me over, obviously i would send him off but how would i restart play?
I ought to flesh out my answer a bit more in case anyone is curious why I have gone indirect instead of direct when this involves tripping or pushing.
Law states that a direct free-kick is awarded for pushing, tripping etc an opponent. It makes no mention of a match official. An indirect free kick is awarded if play is otherwise stopped to caution or send off a player for any other reason.
