Completely agree with this. If I do anything to indicate I’m managing the kick, it’s ceremonial. If I don’t, they can take when they want. And that’s really the difference between an attacking FK and one further back—we don’t need to be ceremonial because we don’t do anything to manage the kick that will unfairly distract the defense.The main objective for a ref is not to be a key part of "tricking" the defence. They don't have a right to a wall - but they do have a right not to be caught out because you've indicated you're setting a wall.
