The call went out at half time, "Could any experienced, qualified official please make themselves known to a steward"
I wasn't tempted, having such a good time (for a change!) where I was.
James Linnington (Referee) pulled a hamstring apparantly, so although 4th took over and James was OK to be 4th for 2nd half, he wouldn't have been able to be AR if someone else went down, so hence they needed a back up. Mrs PP, attending, wanted me to volunteer, but aside from the reason already given, I didn't think hugging the home team manager at FT would have gone down too well!
I have already officiated on the hallowed turf (Day for Grenfell) so I was quite happy to stay in my seat!
