Sad to see that nepotism and old fashioned “who you know” is alive and well looking at some of these names.

Sad to see that nepotism and old fashioned “who you know” is alive and well looking at some of these names.
And here's me thinking it's just a simple task of merging two Merit Tables together and subtracting the numpties who can't be relied upon

Was probably one game (with a semi reasonable mark) away from promotion as an AR. As it wasn't something I was ever chasing I'm not too disappointed but at least missing out doesn't lead to an awkward conversation with my wife after saying I'd step back to 5 at the end of the season!

Even now with the alleged insistence on fairness are people getting prompted unfairly?

An opinion based on my own experiences. I don’t have a horse in this race so to speak, as I’m currently on an enforced hiatus as I’m working overseas. Not here long enough to justify international clearance and there simply isn’t much in the way of football to do either!

But I digress. Some have been hotshotted through, ingratiating themselves with people of influence and have a sh*tty attitude to everyone else to boot. It translates into “better” appointments, this massaging the merit table. It’s disappointing to see that these guys still get through. I’d like to think that they’d be found out, and found wanting but life doesn’t work like that sadly.

And I’m no being overly negative- I recognise some names who have absolutely slogged their guts out to get there and fully deserve their shots.

But the shockers on there make me glad I’m not a part of it for now.

That's really sad to read.

Playing for club marks, getting better games unfairly and getting ahead for other reasons really isn't ok.

Is this process also subject to the PC box ticking agenda of the FA?

The only Referee promoted from 3 to 2B that I've been on the line for this year, was probably the worst L3 Ref I've been out with
Awful dismissive arrogant attitude towards the Clubs involved and he had a poor game IMO (Not Observed fortunately, otherwise it would've been a crap score). Obviously, dodgy to judge someone on a single showing, but can't see his attitude changing much from one week to next
Very strange to see that name on the list

How many Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 Refs are there?
My first thoughts as a new L4, is there's nowhere near enough fluidity of promotion and reclassification
2/49 in my pool is quite discouraging. Even 10% seems questionably low. The system favours a (possibly fortunate) streak of excellent scores, as opposed to dependable good scores over a longer period. Strangely, the FA does take into account scores from the previous season when considering re-classification, but they don't do this for Promotion. Why would they be inconsistent like that? And why are we not subjected to an annual LOTG test? And why doesn't that score contribute to our overall final Merit Table
Although the FA have made efforts to define promotion criteria this year, I think more transparency is needed. In particular, why don't we get to see the final eclectic merit table? I'm guessing that the FA would argue that regional variation of Promoted Numbers would leave some Referees knowing they were overlooked on that basis. But the lack of transparency WRT the final decision making process, will always attract suspicion
The absence of a LOTG test is stupid and the score should contribute

Unfortunately same experience for me for one of the 4-3s.

Really poor, lacked fitness and just overall **** attitude. Runs in the right circles though.

There is one on there who I did rate, and was a throughly good guy and ref to boot.
