Let’s face it, this will never happen. “The player taking the penalty must kick the ball forward.” It would take an extraordinary gust of wind for a penalty to end up in a players own net.
So this is obviously not a real question. It’s not really even a hypothetical question either because let’s face it, it never happens. I’m kind of just wondering if it’s covered in law anyway, or if it’s not covered at all because of its extreme unlikelihood.
What is the correct restart if a player scores an own goal from a penalty kick?
(My guess would be corner, rather then awarding an own goal)
