The defenders just can't believe that the ref didn't do jewellery checks on a live TV game!! (a failure of basic refereeing duty).....
And in other news..... a ref gets banned for rock, paper, scissors!!!! (a failure of basic refereeing duty).

Yep, it's a hair band and fairly common these days. They often take a spare one in case the one their are wearing falls off, not really sure if that falls into the jewellery category. Plus they tend to hold it while doing the checks and put in on their wrist after, so not easy to spot.
