Attacking player is on the goal line and pulls the ball backwards to another attacker who is behind the last defender and goalkeeper.is he offside?

What makes an offside position?

• Opponents' half (seems to be met)
• Closer to the goal line than the second last defender (seems to be met)
• Closer to the goal line than the ball (doesn't seem to be met)

Can't be offside as the ball is as far forward as possible so all other players are either level or behind.

Direction of the ball is completely irrelevant. An attacker in an offside position can run backwards to retrieve a ball played back and be penalised for it. Don't believe me? Then show me which page says the law has to go forwards
