Censorship
Penalty awarded to Brentford right at the end of first half, for keeper sticking arm out and slapping the legs of the attacker bringing him down.
May seem soft but definitely seen given, but was by VAR.

After the checks, the ref cautions Henderson for it (surely he could've been sent for DOGSO?).
As they're making their way to the area, Nottingham Forest decide to show the incident on the big screen. All players and fans up in arms because they feel it was soft/wasn't a pen. This then meant the players surrounded the ref shouting at him.
No further cautions.
Pen scored.
Henderson then kicks ball in anger away in general direction of Brentford players going to celebrate with kicker. He then proceeds to walk angrily towards the ref again thrashing his arms about clearly swearing and giving strong dissent to the referee, who again ignores it.

I'm all for "its a different game" etc but this gets replicated in parks where its not just shouting, it's punching.

Interesting one. I think the attacker is already falling before contact is made, but the goalkeeper does intentionally leave his hand in the attacker's path after the ball has passed him.

Accordingly, I don't think the goalkeeper trips the attacker but I think he attempts to trip him which is sufficient for a direct free kick as per law 12. (penalty kick; law 14)

Regarding the big screen, showing the incident on the big screen will help with transparency. All we need now is to broadcast the referee's and VAR's audio like they do in other sports.

Couple of things from that game, the amount of players around VAR area when ref was reviewing, including GK..
And if Henderson’s reactions/dissent doesnt deserve a 2nd yellow then forget it ever happening in a game. That was the definition of decent.
The FA have no interest at all in cutting down grassroots abuse.

I just don't see this as a penalty at all, its so soft no wonder Henderson is reacting as he is. If that is a pen then the push on the forest player earlier in the first half has to be a pen because there was definately more contact than for the Brentford one.

The fact I don't think the attacker has full control of the ball is probably what saved him from a DOGSO red but imagine the uproar if a red was shown.

Once again though Lee Mason on VAR with a questionable intervention.

Doesn’t matter how soft it is. His reaction is a definite 2nd yellow offence

The reaction is what comes of PL refs ignoring 'soft' fouls, sometimes a 'soft' foul is a key match incident and you've set yourselves up for a much harder time handling it.

I agree with the falling part, but he can't do much with his hand as that would be his natural position at that time.

The player brushes the glove to make sure contact is made, which by pundit standards is 'clever'. But in reality, that doesn't make anyone fall over like he did.

Player played the system and VAR fell for it.

With regards to Henderson staying on the pitch, there were several additional cautions that could have been given, but weren't, I suppose in the spirit of unwritten 11v11 rule which is often mentioned in this forum.

Wissa must have a sore shin after that contact today.

Not a penalty for me
