You make a good point, player goes off in far corner, then you have to sprint to the halfway line to do the sub. Good change for professional football, though.Good change, can't see it making much of a difference at grass roots when, if you're doing it properly, you still need to walk over to the player check their number and kit before they come on anyway.
There's always the caveat whereby the referee can indicate to the player he/she can leave the FOP at the halfway line as previously mandated.The only issue might be a safety issue to players, imagine a player having to walk past opposition supporters to get to the dressing room/dugout.
