New MLS/PRO kit provider for 2021

Seems like the simplest answer is just to pick a colour for the referee's kit and make sure no other teams in the division use that colour....

Simple, yes, but the money flow doesn't support that model . . .

I’d highly doubt it. There has been a need for a shirt color like this for a while. One of the US college organizations just signed with Capelli and have already introduced an orange shirt. I think this will be a part of the regular rotation as early as this weekend.

EDIT - the orange made its regular-season debut in two matches over the most recent match weekend, including one match where a keeper was already in orange and the referees could have worn green very easily. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/what-your-club-is-wearing-for-mls-week-25
