I thought the shouts for DOGSO (Che Adams) and a penalty for McTominay were a bit weak last night but was anybody else surprised to see the referee not called over to the screen to review the challenge on McGinn inside the penalty area?

My guess is that in Europe, that's given as a penalty every time ...

I would suggest in Europe, he gets a foul given against him for the challenge that wins him the ball in the first place. Fairly straight forward upper body check to give in my opinion. Safe to say the Uzbek referee’s foul recognition was different to mine.

That said I think the challenge was a penalty if you let it get that far

DOGSO - ball bas been hoofed up, so cannot guarantee DOGSO at all.

McGinn - played the foul and clearly dived

McTomminay - again, looking for the foul

I thought the potential DOGSO was the strongest shout of the three. All evening the referee had a very high bar for a foul so to be fair to him, not giving a foul for the McGinn and McTominay challenges was very consistent with the rest of the game. I think both are fouls, but they don’t feel like the kind of blatant errors that a VAR should be intervening in.
I don’t know what an observer would’ve thought of it, but the game was much better to watch with the higher foul threshold.
