Misconduct

Hi, I was involved in a U18 match yesterday, there was only 30 seconds left of play, there was a very nasty foul on team A by a team B player, a team A player ran over to make his point shall we say, this started handbags with both sets of players, so the ref decided to blow the final whistle, game finished.

Once all had calmed down, the official then approached the coaches to call two players over, he then sent them both off after the the game for an offence that happened during the game, is this allowed?

Pretty sure the laws give the referee authority until they leave the field of play after the game so assuming they’re still on the pitch, yes

Yes. The referees authority remains until he leaves the field of play. Any sanctions (except a few very niche scenarios) have to be administered before play restarts. In this case it doesn't restart but is done before he leaves so sounds reasonable to me.

Red carded a player a few seasons back myself after something he said to me whilst the post-match handshakes were going on.

Did it 4 weeks ago. Sub decided to speak his mind to me after the final whistle. Gave him his marching orders
