I’m clearly not a very good ref as I dont understand that call to be honest. Is that an attempt at playing the ball? Doesnt look like it

I think this is a mistake too. Fernandez attempts to play a ball that's close which impacts an opponent (2 in fact both Martinez and the GK.)

Officials team have had a shocker today.
That a pen to City for the Macguire push as well. So 3 KMIs wrong IMO

I thought Fernandes should have been sent too with VAR.

Definite red for Foden - you just cannot do that,

VAR (as usual) has been poor.

He booked Enzo presumably for simulation so presumably the ball was considered dead before Maguire pushed him. Although it was barely a push. Enzo probably deserved at least 2 cards if not 3 for simulation during the game IMO.

1) both sent off or both caution. You can't send off Foden and not Bruno.

2) Enzo is trying to head the ball, he is clearly interfering. Only thing I feel that is saving them is Martinez and keeper were not going to get it, so are they thinking no interference took place? Ref should have had a look.

3) Maguire can't just grab and then push Enzo to the floor like that off the ball in frustration for him diving. That's a penalty!

No, they have deemed it a deliberate attempt to play the ball by the UTD defender, so everything resets (new phase)

Enzo onside but doesn't touch it

Haaland onside at point of contact from Utd defender

I don't think this matters.

It only has to impact an opponent, not their ability to play the ball (that's the next bullet).

Both remake an instinctive reaction to the action which to me gives rise to an offence under the playing a ball that is close clause.

They've deemed that as a deliberate play? Where has that been mentioned. I can't see how that's a deliberate play myself.
