Let's talk about the LoG and referees (f) in football

Hello all,

I am new here and would like to exchange ideas with you. I am not a referee myself. But my focus as a football historian is on the evolution of the Laws of the Game. Because I couldn't find a reasonable, comprehensive and critical account of the history, I created it myself over all IFAB protocols and put it online on a blog. As I am from Germany, it is mainly German-language, but most of the articles are also available in English. In this way, I became the world's leading expert on the history and development of the Laws of the Game and on cooperation with the IFAB and also the DFB, for whose referee newspaper I regularly write articles.

My second interest concerns other women in football, especially female referees. Here, too, I have somehow become the world's specialist, because no one else is researching it ... very strange, but I like being a nerd ;-)
So I would be especially happy about the exchange with other non-men who are active in men's football: What is the motivation? How do they empower? What difficulties (beyond the usual problems with abuse and so on, which men also experience) do they know and how can they be helped? For example, through safer spaces or other possibilities.
I also find it interesting because football is normally, you know it, divided into binary groups: there is men's football and women's football.Normally there are no women in men's football .... Women referees are changing that and are getting a lot of support, but also a lot of rejection from the die-hards.

These are the two areas that interest me and that I would like to discuss with you.
Many greetings from Germany,
Clio aka Petra

Welcome Clio. Unfortunately, I think there are no regular non-men contributors on the forum. Probably fair to say. I think that's probably due to the profile of referees in English speaking countries and not the nature of this forum.

I am up in Finland where, while there are far fewer female than male referees, they are integrated into the male game, as the male referees are into the female game. I was AR2 today and AR1 was female, I was ref on Thurs and AR2 was female, yesterday I refereed 3 u15 girls games. What I have noticed here is that there are basically no older long-time grassroots female referees and, as far as I know, none starting after 25. My guess is that is similar elsewhere - and that might be connected to lack of female referees on sites like this or similar on F***book.

Please keep posting here!

Oh, thank you very much for your words and I am very happy to meet someone from Finland and to read that you are more diverse.
Because the Finnish Football Association didn't answer me if there are women appointed in professional men's football matches. When I read you, I assume that there have been some for a long time and that there are some at the moment?

Here you go, here's an article on the top female referees and another on the development manager. I've worked on mens games with quite a few on this list. Stick Translate on. ;) Bear in mind the top league is really only semi-pro, you might have asked the wrong question. As far as I know at least one female referees in the 2nd tier mens - but the development manager can surely help.

Oh, thank you so much! I don't have much time at the moment, but I'll have a look at it in the next few days!
