Jack Rodwell - Sunderland vs Spurs

Mooseybaby

Retired big bad baldy in all black!
Sunderland's Jack Rodwell with a cynical, somewhat nasty hack on Spurs Dembele.

Absolutely no intent to play the ball and only appeared intent of taking out the man.

Referee Lee Mason showed Rodwell a yellow card, but quite easily have been a straight red and probably should have been.

Disclaimer: I'm a Sunderland fan thought I'd get that out of the way early.

Great tackle, nothing wrong with it. Can't believe it even warranted a free kick let alone a yellow! :D

Probably the best thing Rodwell has done in a Sunderland top! Think it's the only time I've seen him break up play!

That's an "orange" if you ever saw it.

To maintain control at grassroots, you'd probably issue red more often than not.

At PL level, not surprised to see a yellow

I agree orange, not a leg breaker, clumsy, yes, premeditated probably, worst tackle ever, no, but either card is sellable depending on the temperature of the game. No issue with either!

Sorry, that is a blatant, blatant red card. Not attempt whatsoever to play the ball and that kind of tackle has no place in the modern game.
