The Ref Stop

italian celebration goes too far

The Ref Stop
Can't be violent conduct. That can only be committed against another person (whether player, substitute, coach, spectator, etc).

But yah... over the top and a bit stupid to boot.

Yah, I seem to recall having this conversation elsewhere, around the time it happened.

The game was between two amateur Italian teams in 2.a categoria (sp?), Ponticelli and Riolo Terme, played February 8th, 2014, and won 3-1 by Riolo Terme.

Here are the full match highlights:

The incident in question happens around 6:50 (or so) and is described as "IDIOT breaks through the BENCH WITH HEAD". Haha. The player is a Riolo Terme player named Violanti.

Arguably, this is excessive celebration and should (logically) be a caution (with extra notes as to what happened, etc).

Abuse to the fixtures and fittings?

I only came on here to see if the Italian celebrations went as far as Sicily anyway...

Trying to look at it from the refs point of view, which I'm finding hard, but still... possibly a violent/threatening gesture.

To me, that's an abusive gesture and offensive to the club owners and ground staff as well as insulting.

I can see how it could be OFFINABUS quite easily tbh
