Corner delayed for around a minute while an Ipswich player put their boot back on.

Macallister kicks a ball off the cone to delay Ipswich potentially having a quick corner. Macallister was already on a yellow
Ipswich player had just been booked for standing in front of a free kick.

Was that the one where he kicked it to his keeper knowing it's a corner but tried to play dumb?
 
Considering the high bar mentioned regarding the non giving of the Brentford penalty shout on Schade against Leeds...
How did VAR get involved for the pen on Szoboszlai in comparison?

I know on here most if not all.thought schade was a pen but not looked at.
Only difference was the offside call. Would it have been if he wasn't offside, guess we will never know now...

And since when did a PL ref say Penalty Shout over comms. How to talk terrace talk to fans eh.

Because the Ipswich player kicks the Liverpool player on the foot which makes him lose his balance. Ref was probably blindside and thought the Ipswich defender played the ball but clearly he didn't so would of been a correct recommendation for a review.

It does look a bit silly sending the ref to the monitor to look at a potential pen but then you spotted a potential offside on the APP as soon as the ref arrives at the screen and then he has to explain it to the crowd why no monitor review for a penalty has taken place.

And in the Brentford game, Bogle trod on Schades foot after the ball has gone.
Very little difference.
But different VAR usage.

Its very silly to send him to screen but then stop him short of it to check offside.
But this was to shorten delays. The delay being a few seconds at best really.

This one feels a bit different, the referee obviously thought the defender played the ball when in reality he didn't and took a wild swipe at the attacker, certainly enough to cause him to go over.

Like you said, in the Brentford game the defender trod on the attacker's foot, that's a different action to kicking someone, and for all we know the referee could have said that he's seen it but didn't feel it was enough and that would pretty much rule out VAR intervention. Whereas last night it would have been VAR saying something like "did you think he played the ball", or the referee saying that he thought he played the ball, and as that was factually incorrect it enables VAR to determine there has been a C&O error.

As for the check, I've definitely heard on the mic'd up show VAR say to the referee something like "start to make your way to the monitor while we check the APP", so I don't think was out of the ordinary.

It's not and I think Webb says they want th VAR's to do a it this way as it stops having the ref to stop play at a random moment to check something that may of happened a few minutes before. In fairness I am amazed this is the first time it happened as when you hear the mic'd up clips, something like this is something that could happen but more often but thankfully it doesn't.
