Incidents from this weekends games

Had a busy weekend this weekend managing to cover three games (one due to allocated ref being ill) in U13, U16 and one OA game.

Upon reflection I have a number of incidents that happened across the three games, that I'd like some advice on regarding the actions I took.

Saturday - Game 1.

U15's game. Ended up 10-0 to the red team, however there was a number of occasions in the game where the red team attackers ended up 1 on 1 with the green team goalkeeper, who insisted on trying to challenge the onrushing reds attacker by running towards him with his studs up despite being in his own penalty area still. Initially, his foot was not higher than knee height as the ball was bouncing quite low and he didn't get either the ball or player - after he did this type of challenge the first time I warned him about continuing to challenge in that manner. Not two minutes later and he does the same thing, but this time his foot is clearly waist height missing the player again. At this point fearing for someones safety and seeing his challenges getting more dangerous I caution him for dangerous play (much to the dismay of the line and the player himself) this has the desired effect and he stops challenging in this way for the rest of the game.

Sunday - Game 2.

U13'S game. Very close game with two equally matched sides that finished 4-3 with literally last kick of the game. Orange attacking with reds defending when a challenge comes in from red defender who clearly wins the ball but orange takes a light knock to his ankle trying to retrieve the over run ball. Reds then break and are on the attack as the ball crosses the half way line I hear a shout from the orange team line and I turn around to see the orange player sitting up on the floor holding his ankle - I am satisfied that it was simply a knock to the ankle and not a head injury or anything serious and with reds being in a good attacking position now on the break (4 v 3) I decide to not stop play. Ball goes out for orange GK and I then recieve a torrent of abuse from the orange line because I didn't stop play. Whats peoples thoughts on this?

Same game but second incident orange defender takes ball straight to the head from no more than 3 yards away quite hard and it knocks him off his feet - I stop play straight away due to it being head related. I then restart play with a drop-ball from where the ball was on the field when I stopped play - letting the players decide how they choose to play it. My query here is did I restart play in the correct position? I.E where the ball was when I stopped play for the injury?

Sunday - Game 3.

OA womens game. Blue player tries to chest ball around waist height but mis judges the bounce and then sticks arm out to control ball - I blow for handball and she then proceeds to shout at me that it hit her on the shirt and was I "having a ****ing joke". At this point I call her over along with her captain and caution her for dissent. After issuing the caution she then turns her back to me and is jogging away when I think I heard her insult me but only herd "****ing" and didn't catch the second word as she was facing away from me. Not being 100% sure of what she actually said I decided to take no action, but if she had said for example "****ing dickhead" am I right in issuing a second yellow for OFFINABUS and walking her? It was the only piece of dissent/abuse from any player in the game but wanted to clarify incase next time I actually hear fully what a player says.

Inc 1: It's one of those that's very hard to judge without being there. Seems like you handled it well though

Inc 2: You didn't feel it was serious, perfect decision by not stopping play. As for the abuse, deal with it strongly & firmly

Inc 3: All correct. Head injury, potentially very serious, good call. Yes, dropped ball from where ball was

Inc 4: Again, strong & firm. If it had been as you suggest, OFFINABUS is a red card offence. So, depends whether you 2nd yellow for dissent or straight red for OFFINABUS

With incident 4, given the well behaved nature of the game, as you called in the captain I would suggest trying to use them while delivering the "I have made a decision based on what I have seen, cut this nonsense out or next time I will be going to the pocket" speech. A good captain shuts the player up, a smart player heeds the warning. I would add that there was nothing wrong with the action you took, just might has been able to avoid it maybe.

Players muttering while walking away is normal. As long as they don't cross the line, Give them the Collina stare, maybe the zip it hand gesture.
