I don't have much information but have been made aware that a referee from my area, someone I have worked with before passed away at a young age today. He had been operating on the top level in Wales until fairly recently. It would be nice if we as a refereeing family could have him and his family in our thoughts. Rest in peace.

you could reword it a bit more sensatively - things had got too much for him / no suspicious circumstances ......
 
I heard many good things about the referee in question, and it saddens me to hear about his passing. My thoughts are with yourself and his family.
 
Condolences go to his family and all of those that knew him, never nice to hear things like that
