We've been quite lucky in Donny (touch wood) and I've managed two games this year, 1 line and a middle yesterday. Enjoyed the game yesterday on a surprisingly good pitch. Even had the two players who were cautioned admit to me I was right to do so. That always worries me .
There's still a handful of old Miners Welfare pitches around which must have put in good drainage when there was money around to do so.
The biggest problem with some pitches is the length of the grass. The warm winter conditions has encouraged the grass to grow when ordinarily it wouldn't. I've 3 lined up for next weekend and one is at the local Deaf Trust college who usually have good grass pitches and they played last Saturday too.
I was due to do one game on Saturday that was p/p
Got put on another , that also got p/p
Also my Sunday game was p/p
That's in Cambridge
Hope we don't get this snow that's being talked about
Spoke too soon. This game has been postponed but only indirectly due to weather. The scheduled away team have to play a Cup game instead. At least, I still get the AR gig rather the middle.
