🏆 FORECAST FIFTIES 🏆

WEEK 36 RESULTS

Wins for Chelsea, Arsenal, Celtic, Barcelona Women, and São Paulo (in that order) gave us a mixed-bag of results with a few of us expecting Fulham to get something from their West London rivals at Craven Cottage. Nice and easy for Arsenal and Celtic with the only person going against that was @Archer who risked a St Johnstone cupset... but he did make-up for it with a fifth +15 of the season in the São Paulo derby. Wizzy and Holby also trebled-up this week with the Chelsea 2-1 win.

@OldNavyRef did forget to add his wagers and I originally said I'll apply 1-2-3-4-5 in that order. However I looked-up what we used to do in my work's game (before we made it tough titties a void week) and it went 3s across the board. So changed to that instead to avoid stitching Navy up with Doing-A-Spurs™. Consistent? No. My game? Yes.

EASTER BONUS GAME

The bonus game saw you all assigned eight Step 3 teams, two in each of the four divisions, and each of them played twice over the Easter weekend. You scored one point per league point earned, and one point per goal scored. @JamesL did best as half his picks scored 26 goals between them (Telford stuck 7 past some poor sods, can't remember who). Spread of bonuses from highest to lowest was 44 (70-26).

Only one movement in the table sees Gabz edge Exxy in bonuses and he draws level with me.

WEEK 37 FIXTURES - Sunday 27 April

Bournemouth - Manchester Utd
Shakhtar Donetsk - Dynamo Kyiv
Liverpool - Tottenham
Nott'm Forest - Manchester City
Lyon Women - Arsenal Women
BONUS: [ ]

For the bonus game, the semi-finals take place this weekend in the FA Cup (Palace-Villa, Forest-City) and UEFA Women's Champions League (Chelsea-Barca, Lyon-Arsenal). Across those four ties please predict the total number of GOALS + SHOTS ON TARGET + CAUTIONS (YC).

Nearest correct answer wins +10 points, decreasing for predictions wider of the mark (+/-)
If you get it SPOT ON, I will double any points gained from your Lyon v Arsenal prediction.

Just an interesting observation that I don't think had happened before. Highest bonus score got the lowest match score and the lowest bonus score got the highest match score 😮

Hadn’t spotted that! I’ll have a flick through and see if it has before.

How an earth have I missed that! Probably why I always hear specsavers mentioned when I'm in the middle 🤣
Ha yeah I won’t be doubling any negatives, seems a bit mean 😂 I did consider making it a ‘0’ but couldn’t be arsed when they’d have already won +10, and by the time I’d typed that out explaining it didn’t seem worth it aha.

May I suggest squaring it whatever it is (-ve or +ve). It will be quite a feat getting it spot on and it will be just reward.

(Will have to be strategic for 0 and 1 🙂)

Edit: hmm. Just figured It will change a 15 to 225... will leave it up to you boss.

225 points… that they can allocate to any players as they see fit 😂 Imagine the bants haha.

Oh, something I forgot… this week was going to be the 🏆 Balon d’Oh final (Josh v Exxy) but I’ll save that for the mega final day of the PL.

I guess Navy wins the Rusty Plate by default. Might let him pick his own opponent and hold it on 11 May (NLF Day)

Note to self: Sort out the comedy prizes. And maybe ask @RefStop nicely 😘

Got this wrong actually, it was 2s across the board on my works one so the potential points was -10 to +30.

(I’ll leave Navy as 3-3-3-3-3 cos cba)

We’ll apply that next season along with any other rule amendments - ideas always welcome.

One thing we have tried is a power-ups thing, or a bit like FPL wildcards. Over the season get X amount of “jokers” to play - treble one match’s points haul etc. Can win additional ones to play during season if you get a full-house.

We always used to do a name a goal scorer (and it used to have a unique bonus too) but people would change/whine if players dropped or injured so we binned it off… for quickest team to score.

Aaaaanyway… We’ll have a nice new summer league with some fancy overseas fixtures as a warm-up competition (gives me something to do at work during Monday’s conference call each week).

Hold on… hadn’t spotted this when doing the bonus points. Will investigate

Edit: Nah. No changes. Just counted and I did add 44 results from yesterday to the spreadsheet so whatever match it was, stands for the game.

I don't know what this says about your mindset that your first thought upon reading that post was back to Forecast Fifties 😆

Was already thinking about it yesterday while watching Totton - Winchester during the hour-long half-time ☔️ #dedicated

Secret nuke bomb. Everyone has only one and can play it any round but only on a payer adjacent to them on the table (immediately above or below them). Must play it via DM to you before the first game of the round kick off. Player nuked finds out only once the round is over and it changes their total score to 0 (-ve or +ve).

Wow, we started off with a friendly football prediction competition and we're now talking about nuclear bombs. That escalated quickly.

Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 Dynamo Kyiv (1)
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham (5)
Nott'm Forest 1-1 Manchester City (3)
