The VAR pen reversal then... haven’t found footage yet but why no RC?

I missed the first half. Many people not happy with the ref. Was it so bad?

(Highlight for me: I don’t know if Mane is the 3rd best footballer in the world. But I do think he’s the funniest. At the start of ET Klopp briefs the players a bit about football and then does something strange: he tells the players not to end the game looking knackered by bending over hands on knees. Presumably part pyschology, part PR. He even cuts yhe grass! Anyway, Mane is full of running in ET. The final whistle blows. What does Sadio do? Bends over, hands to knees! Ha! ROFL!)

Not one of the best displays of refereeing. Some strange decisions, not least the Diego yellow, should have been red. Turned over penalty suddenly not even a foul!

I thought his manner with the players was quite good, but some of his decision making was baffling. Including the VAR farce, it's either a penalty and caution or a free kick and red for DOGSO. Quite how he has come to the conclusion that it isn't even a foul is beyond comprehension. No one in the stadium had a clue what was happening as they had announced it was a check for a penalty, then when the check was complete it was put on the screen that the decision was a free kick.

I'll admit I only had it on in the background, and wasn't paying much attention... but every time I looked up when there was obviously something going on, he looked like he was having a good old time with the players. Seemed a decent chap.

Silencing the clamour for OFR in the EPL
Or at least highlighting an even longer delay for the usual calamity

I don't get the appeal for a DOGSO. A) I think any contact is minimal but B) it occurs after Mane has played the ball. That doesn't mean its not a foul; but whether in the box or out he's not denied the goalscoring opportunity.

I think he clipped Mane's foot as he went to make the shot and it caused him to miss. Intent or level of contact is irrelevant here, if you give the foul against an attacker who is in the centre of the goal on the edge of the area and with no covering defenders there can only be one outcome and that is DOGSO.
