Hi guys
I have my first match on Sunday and it is an u13s friendly. I have a few nerves and I just wondered if you had any tips.
Eg - when you collect team-sheet, do you write names in book or subs.
When to introduce yourself to manager ?

However you want yo do it. If you've got time, I'd write all the names in so it's less writing for you. However it's up to personal preference. Still ask their name when administering cards because the name could be wrong on the sheet, you never know.

I usually get to games 1 hour to 45 mins before kickoff. I like to introduce myself to the managers, learn their names, make small talk and seem more like a person to them.

Be firm in your decisions, engage with the players but don't get drawn in to long arguments, and enjoy it.
 
Ok so line up on half way line before match, do handshake and start and then the three cheers after game ?

It’s a friendly so not league game but I think I will defo do one at the end where they do the three cheers for each team. Think it is a nice and respectful thing to do.

Never ever heard or done three cheers hand shakes is enough surely and if it’s been a scrap who wants to give three cheers that’s a 50s school thing ??
 
Ok will not do 3 cheers but will do handshake after game and possibly before if managers say they normally do it.

Nearly two hours......I'd have been stood around as a billy nomates for at least an hour!
 
Just discovered a small iron burn on my top after ironing on the badge !!
Am gutted
Do you think people will notice it eg managers and will look poor from me

It's all over! You're doomed! Just kidding--people don't pay attention to the badge.

Side story: AYSO in the US certifies referees at different levels, including a very basic certification for U8 and younger games. I knew a ref who started wearing his old U8 badge to do U19 games to see if anyone noticed--only other referees.

So don't worry about the badge. Look confident; when you aren't sure of a call, act like you are. And have fun out there.

Old school ceremony that we certainly used to do as kids in Manchester. The manager would say three cheers for ...... and the kids say hip hip hooray like it's 1950. I haven't heard it done since I crossed the pennines
