The Ref Stop

"First" game "back"

So in England at least, we seem to have a small stable window regarding restrictions because of you know what, so was just wondering if you, like me, had some games lined up soon.

Weather and late you know what tests permitting, I have a college middle (U18s) tomorrow.

Anyone out again at the moment?

The Ref Stop
I have an appointment for 1330 Saturday, no morning game as didn't give my January availability in quick enough, nothing for Sunday morning yet but I've given my availability and it's one of my less regular leagues and checking the appointments in the latter months of last year, I reckon if I still haven't been appointed a match come Saturday night I could still get one, so not overly worried.

That's it for me so far, essentially all my availability is in till end of Feb, so I'm waiting on appointments now.

Hopefully! I never do a huge amount in December (Boxing day is always busy and I like to leave a few weekends open for the standard festive socialising!), but due to various cancellations, my last outing was a line in the first weekend of December, so I'm eager to get out again after such a long gap.

Have a Div 3 Sunday league fixture for this coming weekend, followed by a county cup match the following Sat and a U23 local derby with NAR's towards the end of the month. That's actually a nice ramp up in level/likely difficulty of fixture, plus no more lines: most of my Nov fixtures were on the line, so I feel like I've done my share for the whole season already. Really hoping they all go ahead.

Jan for me is four Step 4 middles, 1 Step 1 Line and a weekly wait for the Women's AR appointments which only come through on the Monday preceding the Sunday

My last game before the break was assessed. Although it wasn't a disaster from the perspective of my observation score, I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of the game (lots of misconduct / bad feeling). It disrupted sleep the night following. More importantly, it was below the standard I set for myself
Coincidentally (due to the scheduling of suitable/ideal middles), I was also assessed yesterday (first game back). The two games were chalk & cheese, so I'm just glad that I responded to adversity in a positive manner and renewed focus. In terms of my own objectives, I was so much better yesterday. My score ought to follow suit, but I'm arguably more bothered about my own values being met

It's quite funny really, as many RefChat Members might appreciate, the best thing that could happen to @Russell Jones , is that I get promoted to Level 4 (THIS SEASON) because that would get me off his books. Can you all imagine what it's like for him with me on his case on a regular basis? 😅
He doesn't have an 'Ignore Button' hahahaha 🤣😆

But does that not mean you'll be off his books and onto his lines?

Not sure what's worse 😏🤣

Got 2 youth games - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Saturday one called off today - presuming covid - but league is short so already been appointed to another game instead. Sunday game is still on but who knows if it still will come Sunday.

Looking forward to getting back to it! Got 6 games this month as last 2 weeks of Jan are closed.

2 step 6 lines
3 u18 lines
1 county cup semi final (hoping it’s a middle)

Had a line on the 27th. Back this Saturday with a County middle and Sunday League the following day. With the wet weather we've had over Xmas and covid I'm almost certain I'll see my first postponement of the season (and I've done 37 games so far).

My junior game just been called off due to Covid so I’ve not got a game now. May possibly look for another one if I can.

Jan for me is:

2 Supply League Middles
2 Contrib Lines
1 FA Vase 4th Official
1 Local Senior Cup Middle
1 Womens Regional Middle

One of my supply league middles is at the furthest ground from where I live, a 2 hour each way round d trip. Not been there before so actually quite looking forward to it!

Well that was a foolish post by me!

College game off - Insufficient numbers for one team - no reason given and one of my Isthmian U18s later this month moved to March. :(

Next scheduled game now is an Isthmian u18s line a week tomorrow....................

I have a lot of tough games this month, and a very big cup game down the road.

Unfortunately, I've been ill so...

Couple of Step 7 middles and a County Cup line.

Weirdly looking forward to the line more as the ref is our RDO (EFL Referee usually) and he’s got permission to use comms for the game so should be a good learning experience!

Not overly confident my middle tomorrow will be on, weather down here is awful!
