maybe the ref is a fan of Adebayor ... believes a sign was sent to him from God that he had to give a random penalty that nobody understood in the first half?

that is quite literally the most logical thing I can think of! lol

From his viewpoint, I think he saw the grab of John Stones's shirt or the rugby tackle on Phil Jagielka. Both happened before the Stones handball.
Purely conjecture on my part.
