Drying the ball before a throw in.

Away team manager complained that the home team's use of a towel to dry the ball before throw in's was not fair. The home team defender could throw the ball a really long way.

The drying of the ball for a long throw was happening throughout the match on the managers side of the pitch. The away manager said that the towel was not offered to every player the whole away around the pitch and therfore unfair.

This is U15's football.

What's your take on it as the rules don't appear to state that it is not allowed.

Couldn't give a f*ck, bring your own towels if they're that bothered. I can throw a wet ball as far as a dry ball tbh.

When Stoke and Delap became famous for doing this, the PL decreed that if towels are being made available for the home team, they must also be made available for the away as well. But that's competition rules, not LOTG - so it probably informs the away managers complaints, but shouldn't necessarily dictate your response.

MY instinct would be to say the same as Max, albeit, perhaps slightly more diplomatically in the moment! ;) No one is stopping the away manager bringing and supplying their own towels, if they think it's such an important advantage, they should be preparing for it.

Drying the ball using some sort of 'outside agent' should be forbidden in Law
Talk about a quick win to speed up the restart of play. Said for ages this is an 'easy win' for IFAB... useless numpties

Agreed. The bigger issue with this in the modern game is the time it takes rather than the act of doing it
