The Ref Stop

Delaying the Restart

My mindset is that it's more specific to caution for 'failing to respect required distance' whenever the offence involves 'distance'
'Delaying the restart' is the bucket that catches anything else
Dissent is an entirely different offence. I would never caution a player for dissent for 'not doing what I tell them' (Otherwise I'd have no players left )

The Ref Stop
First season as a L4 and I've had 2 cautions for delaying the restart in the handful of middles I've done.

Both really simple ones and not argued about. Previous season in my promotion season I didn't have a single one...

Yep that's my take on it, as I've gone up the levels, more of my cautions have come from things that are "tactical fouls" than at lower levels. Players know when to "take one for the team"

And, conversely, they know how to not be completely reckless by mistake. I've found that the higher the level, the less you can say "that was definitely an accident." This is also why I bristle when folks on the tele say the professionals weren't being deliberate when they do something rash.
