Hi all

Would it be a reasonable request to ask a referee secretary to provide me with my club average and position in the referee panel rankings for the season for the league?

Purely out of curiosity more than anything.

Thanks

Is the normal practice in that league to publish club marks?
Are they worth having?
Are the panel rankings and scores usually published to referees in your area?

Leagues will generally offer to provide this at the end of the season if you want it. They will probably be reluctant to provide it more frequently as it creates extra workload, and may also let you know which clubs have marked you down. I know of one referee from years ago who was told a very low mark a club had given him and when into the next game involving them with the mantra of "if they are going to give me a s**t mark I'll give them a very good reason".

Depending on your county/leagues your on, some of them base cup finals on the club marks. So thats another indictor. But as said don't worry too much about club marks. Even at L4+ they are not as important as they used to be.

Rememeber a club will probably mark low if they don't win etc..

Thanks all for your replies.

Bit of confusion apologies on my part and just to make sure no one else uses their time replying the same thing…

I do fully understand how club marks work at level 5 and at 4 and I don’t particularly care if they are 0 or 100 to be honest.

That said, in my opinion, it would just be nice to know…

You probably have a right to access it under GDPR as it is personal information about you. If the individual marks have been kept then you may have a right to those too.

No reason not to ask if you want to know.

Club marks are one thing but do they really have referee "rankings" at Step 7 and below? I'm not aware that they do.

My County League dishes out an end of season award to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed "average club marks" referees which I think is a nice touch.

Shame they count for nowt. I was the same last season an'all. The old banding system would've served me better. Folk don't like Club Marks cos they ain't any good at'em. I've had me ups and downs with observers though. Considerably less consistent over four years with that lot, with some wild scoring
I'm like a bag of Revels with that lot
