CRB question

I realise that you need an active CRB (less than 3 years old) when you register & you intend to referee youth games.

As mine was last done in Sept 13 , I was fine at registration time.

However I have now seen in my associate county newsletter that a CRB has to be valid (ie less than 3 years old) at the date of any (youth) match I officiate on - which would mean I WOULD need to renew before season starts in earnest.

Seeking clarification from my parent county (RDO on leave), but just wondered if any of you had seen anything specific on this from your county or elsewhere?

Thanks

When I registered at the start of last season we were told we had to have a valid crb/dbs before we could do any games, as you can have players starting oa football at 16

I write as a teacher, not a referee, but I suspect that the rules are the same.

Your DBS (which is the new name for CRB) needs to be valid at the time you are with u18s. So if you were checked in Sep 13 and it was valid for 3 years, you will be covered up to Sep 16, but after this time you will need to be re-checked.

Hope that clarifies it for you, the bottom line is that you need to get re-checked.

When the email for registration was sent out by my RDO it said that you only needed a crb if you were doing any youth football but wouldn't need to have one if you were doing adult football only.

@PinnerPaul My 3 year CRC (new name for CRB) was still valid until October this year however when I tried to re-register last month for the forthcoming 16-17 season, it refused to let me, stating that if I wished to re-register to referee youth football I needed a new CRC certificate issuing.

I suspect there must have been some sort of glitch in your registering process mate because when your certificate expires - you're no longer "legal" for want of a better word. :)

This problem with this approach is that U18 players can play in open age football once they reach their 16th birthday. Until they are 18 they are, in the eyes of football and the law of the land, children. As such you need to have a valid CRC to officiate in games where they may play.

I registered via Whole Game - same as majority.

I will get re registered when the RDO is back.

Thanks for replies, even the non relevant ones!;)
